Canada Day is the national holiday celebrated on July 1st; this year Canada will be celebrating its 152nd birthday. During this day many celebrations will occur across the whole country.

This day is marked to commemorate the anniversary of July 1st of 1867, when the three separate colonies of Canada, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia united to form to become one domain. This would later make way in the future for when it would gain its independence. That came to be in 1982 when the Canada passed the constitution act and helped it gain its independence from British parliament.

As mentioned before there will be various celebrations across the country to commemorate the day, some of these being out events for the public, for example in the city of Vancouver there are some events that take place and the whole family can participate.

Check out The Canada Place Waterfront Party, a celebration filled with live music, activities for kids, street hockey, a circus show, live and even a lumberjack show. Or how about a The Surrey Canada Day, this one is considered one of the biggest outdoor concert events held that day and to top it of comes with a firework display to finish the day.

Toronto also has some great attractions like Toronto’s Ribfest, and event that takes place during Canada Day weekend, it has live music, a carnival rides and games and a big plate of ribs to fill you up. Be sure to check it out on Canada Day weekends.

Montreal also holds its own even better knows as Fete du Canada Day, taking place at the Canada Day Site where various events will go on throughout the day. To start the event there is a music performance held in the morning followed by the 21-cannon salute by the Canadian Armed Services. From there more events will take place such as juggling workshops, live painting by local tag artists, a collaborative mural, street hockey, dancing sessions, a photo booth, airbrush tattoos, and face painting, nature walks for kids, and a virtual reality interactive workshop. There is a main stage where various entertainments shows take place and yet again to finish the night a display of fireworks to amaze the crowd.

But the main events of the day take place in the capital of the country Ottawa, Ontario. Where more than ten thousand attendees line up to attend the events at Parliament Hill. Many can be seen enjoying of the festivities as well as political figures, celebrities and royalty. They all enjoy of the day and its celebrations. To end the end the day they will all gather by the Peace Tower and Centre Block to watch the magnificent display of fireworks to commemorate the day and mark it as another successful birthday for the country, until next year comes with even better and bigger ideas.

Look for many other celebrations that take place, and the next time you are in Canada for Canada Day take the time and explore the events and festivities around you, you won’t want to miss out.
