Walk for its popular gastronomy

When we travel, we always worry about what we will eat, and although for some it represents a concern as such, others are encouraged by the adventure of trying new flavors, preparation methods, products, a gastronomic adventure.

In the case of the gastronomy of Canada, it was nourished by communities that inhabited the country over time. For that reason, its gastronomy has very peculiar influences, of varied taste.

The base of the cuisine is French and English, but international dishes are enjoyed like Italian, Chinese, Caribbean or Mexican food.

Each region has a gastronomy that stands out above others, thanks to the great territorial extension with which Canada has and above all, to take advantage of the products of the region. For example, in the Toronto region, Chinese and Italian food predominates over other culinary cultures.

Some of the typical foods of Canada are:

• Tourtière: this typical food of Canada corresponds to a meat pie that can be made of pork or cow and that is traditional in the city of Quebec during the Christmas season.

• Smoked meat: this type of food is usually served in sandwiches (also called smoked meat sandwich).

• Pate chinoise (Chinese pasta), an exquisite dish that is prepared with a base of minced meat on which you put corn, then cream of corn and then mashed potatoes.

• Calgary Beef Hash, cured meat served with beans and potatoes.

• Fiddleheads: another typical Canadian food, made with fern and sweet leaves. It is a dish that is typical of New Brunswick.

• Poutine: another of the typical foods of Canada, which is prepared with fried potatoes to which it is bathed with a cheese sauce and barbecue.

• Maple honey, also known as maple syrup. It is collected in the spring and then processed to be sold in stores.

• Trempettes: a dessert accompaniment that is prepared with fried bread moistened with syrup and covered with cream.

• Pudding au Chomeur, another typical Canadian dessert that corresponds to a sweet cake with a caramel base.

Like visiting any other country, Canada offers a huge culture to taste. Do not forget to always ask what you are eating, so you will avoid any sudden poisoning or allergy, it is just a tip.
