Toronto neighborhood residents can’t handle the parties anymore

Many might know the website Airbnb, which helps people to find affordable and beautiful houses, apartments, condos, etc. to rent for a short period of time. Mainly used by tourist and visitor.

But this has become a problem for a neighborhood where residents were being plagued by ongoing parties on a property used by the Airbnb website.

The house is located in Toronto’s Lanview Drive neighborhood. Residents of the neighborhood complain that since the house started being rented out in March, there have been large gatherings and parties going on. The disturbances have been so much trouble for the residents that in June, they had to complain to the city official for four days straight when one week there were two continuous parties one on Tuesday and the other one on Wednesday.

This has been an ongoing problem that residents want resolved soon. The usually quiet neighborhood will encounter an influx of parked cars on areas that are not for parking, and not only that but people can see intoxicated party goers out on the streets. Add to that the constant banging of loud music and trash left everywhere by the party guest, only for local to have to clean the mess up.

Not being the first time that this has happened, another Airbnb rental in the city of Montreal was having the same issue. This time being an apartment that was being rented out with the tag of “bachelor party loft”. Tenants of the building complained that the loft was often used for parties and that even thought they had already complained to Airbnb and the city there was not much that they could do. This went on for almost a year until the property stopped being rented out.

Thankfully for the neighborhood locals the property stopped being rented out after various complaints, the property is no longer on the Airbnb website for rent and the parties have since then stopped.

Even so various residents where not happy with the way the city handled the situation and their unresponsive nature to their claims as apparently it was very difficult to change anyone with a violation of the law, because as soon as someone would show up the noise would stop.
