Sometimes we feel that 24 hours isn’t enough for all our daily activities. Finding a balance is not easy, today with work, family and other obligations that we must meet, they take most of our time. But we often forget the most important thing is our own care and health. Daily life is heavy, tiresome and we do not always take the time to take care of ourselves.
The most common thing is to neglect our diet as well as our sleeping routine. In many cases we can spend hours without eating, follow diets that are not good for us, or eat junk food for the convenience of not cooking. Who here finds it easier to buy a pizza, then looking for what to cook?
Or how about those night where we stay up instead of going to sleep. We tell ourselves that it will only be 10 more minutes watching a series on Netflix, or on our cellphones looking at Facebook or Instagram. By the time we realize it, it’s already past midnight. It happens to all of us and it can become a bad habit with bad consequences for both our physical and mental health.
Breaking these bad routines can be difficult for many, of course it’s not impossible, all we need is a bit of will power. When it comes to our health, we must always be willing to make changes to feel and live better.
Eating Habits
It never hurts to eat pizza or a bag of chips once in a while. But do not let them form a major part of your diet, our meals must be balanced to give us the necessary energy to carry our daily activities.
We must always emphasize that breakfast is the most important meal, it helps you to have that energy needed to start the day. That if a cereal or just a coffee does not count as a full breakfast. Eat something filling a bowl of oatmeal with fruit could be a good solution if you do not like cooking in the mornings, or that such a yogurt with granola and fruits. If you are looking for something with more protein, a toast with bacon and egg may be the answer.
The important thing is to eat healthy and in fact a snack between meals is highly recommended since it helps you stay full and energized until the time of lunch or dinner. And do not forget to drink water, it’s recommended to drink at least half a gallon a day to keep yourself hydrated.
Remember to include all the food groups in your diet: fruits, vegetables, dairy products, protein, grains and sugars.
Exercise
The hardest part is sometimes giving ourselves the time to exercise. At least daily we should do between 30 to 45 minutes of exercise; this may be what you like; dancing, lifting weights, doing cardio or yoga.
Many times, we think that the only way to exercise is at the gym, but it shouldn’t be like that. Search online for some home exercise videos or small routines that you can incorporate into your work life. A 30-minute walk is a good way to start, doing cardio helps keep your heart strong.
Exercises with weight lifting is good if you want to grow muscle or if you want to tone up. Do Zumba if you like to dance, it’s a very good way to do cardio and aerobics at the same time, putting everything together with some super cool dance moves. And if you want to relax after a long day, yoga can be the answer for you, it will help relax your body and muscles, it helps create flexibility and to find balance.
Bedtime
Sleeping seems like the easiest thing in the world, is what most of us want to do all the time. But just when we should sleep to rest after a day's work, it just doesn’t seem that easy. In a very common cases is that we get distracted doing something else, like watching something on TV.
We must remember that it is advisable to sleep no less than 8 hours, but not more than 10, sleeping too much also has its consequences and not because you sleep more means that you are more rested.
It is advisable to eat 2 hours before bed and sleep no later than 10 or 11 at night to be able to have a good sleep. Many times, not sleeping well can cause headaches, moodiness, fatigue and over time can cause damage to your body that in the future will not be easy to solve.
Remember that the most important thing will always be you and your health, take care of your eating habits but spoil yourself once in a while, exercise at least 30 minutes a day and your body will thank you. And do not forget to sleep so that the next day you will be full of energy.
