Travel restrictions at the borders of the United States, Mexico and Canada will be extended until August due to new outbreaks of coronavirus..

Health authorities for the three neighboring countries were exploring the extension of non-essential travel from July 21 to August, until they see a decrease in Coronavirus cases.

States in the southern United States and northern Mexico such as California, Arizona, Texas and Tamaulipas have registered high numbers of Coronavirus cases and more in border cities, where traffic continues to circulate.

Canada-US border has also seen an increase in crossings even with the restrictions that are being implemented, cause concern as cases keep increasing.

Restrictions were imposed on recreational and tourist travel. Commerce between them has not been affected. There are also no restrictions for people traveling for work or essential activities.

The United States government partially closed the borders with Mexico and Canada in mid-March, in a mutual agreement between the three nations. Although the closure has been extended several times and was expected to reopen on July 21.

The United States Embassy has already provided a list of the trips that are considered essential as well as the workers who are allowed to cross, such as farm employees, restaurants, supermarkets and bus drivers.
